Before Using the Tables
One Suit Does Not Have to Mean One Size.
Women’s bodies rarely follow one fixed ratio from bust to waist and hips. Our Made-to-Order system therefore separates the jacket and waistcoat from the trousers or skirt, allowing the upper and lower garments to be selected independently.
Bust First
Begin the jacket and waistcoat selection with the fullest bust measurement, then compare the natural waist and hips against the same row.
Lower Garment Separately
Choose trousers or a skirt independently. The lower-garment size does not need to match the jacket and waistcoat size.

Women’s Made-to-Order fit
The women’s Made-to-Order range uses its standard tailored fit rather than the men’s Slim, Regular and Relaxed selector. Made to Measure provides an Overall Fit preference and greater control where the wearer wants a different silhouette or has proportions outside the standard block.
Choose the Lower Garment Separately

The trousers or skirt are selected independently from the jacket and waistcoat. This allows the complete suit to reflect the wearer’s actual upper- and lower-body proportions.

The waistband figure is the completed trouser-waistband measurement. Hips to fit is the wearer’s actual body measurement around the fullest part of the hips and seat.

Women’s Skirt Size & Tailored Length
The standard Made-to-Order skirt uses the Tailored block intended to finish above the knee. The listed back length is measured from the top of the waistband to the hem.

What if my jacket and lower-garment sizes differ?
That is normal. Select the jacket and waistcoat using the upper-body table, then choose the trousers or skirt separately. Where measurements fall across several rows within the same garment, use the Order Notes field or contact us before ordering.
Finished Proportions
Women’s Sleeve and Trouser Length Choices.
Women’s Made-to-Order sleeve and trouser lengths are selected separately. Sleeve grade changes the sleeve only; the standard jacket body length remains unchanged.

Both services provide individually produced tailoring. The principal sizing difference is whether the garment begins with the standard women’s size tables or a complete set of individual measurements.

How do women’s suit sizes work?
Women’s numerical sizes represent an expected combination of bust, waist and hip measurements, but the ratios vary between brands and individuals. For TBTC Made to Order, the jacket and waistcoat share one upper-body size, while the trousers or skirt are selected separately.
What is European size 44 in UK women’s clothing?
European women’s size 44 commonly corresponds to UK size 16, US size 12 and Australian size 16. This is a general ready-to-wear conversion, so check the actual bust, waist and hip measurements before ordering.
What is UK size 12 in US and European sizing?
UK women’s size 12 commonly corresponds to US size 8, European size 40 and Australian size 12. Manufacturers can grade garments differently, so treat the conversion as a starting point rather than a substitute for measurements.
Do my jacket and trouser or skirt sizes need to match?
No. The jacket and waistcoat use the upper-body table, while trousers and skirts are selected independently using their own waist and hip guidance. Choosing different upper- and lower-body sizes is normal and expected.
Which measurement should I use first for a women’s jacket?
Begin with the fullest bust measurement, then compare the natural waist and hips against the same size row. If those measurements point to substantially different rows, contact us or include the actual measurements in the Order Notes rather than guessing.
What fit is used for women’s Made to Order?
Women’s Made to Order uses the range’s standard tailored fit. It does not use the men’s Slim, Regular and Relaxed selector. Women’s Made to Measure includes an Overall Fit preference and greater control over individual proportions.
How long is the women’s Made-to-Order skirt?
The standard Tailored skirt is designed to finish above the knee. Its listed back length grades from approximately 18½ inches at the smallest sizes to 20 inches at the largest listed sizes, measured from the top of the waistband to the hem.
Should I add extra room to my measurements?
No. Supply actual body measurements unless a field specifically asks for a finished garment dimension. The factory applies the appropriate tailoring allowance through the selected size and service.
What if my bust, waist and hips indicate different sizes?
This is common. Start with the measurement that controls the garment—normally the bust for a jacket and the waist and hips for a lower garment—then tell us about the remaining measurements. Contact us before ordering where the difference is substantial.
How accurate are international women’s size conversions?
They are useful general equivalents, but women’s sizing varies between countries, brands, garment types and manufacturing blocks. Use international conversion to interpret a label; use actual body measurements and the relevant TBTC table to place an order.
What if my size is above UK 22 or is not listed?
Contact us before ordering. Subject to tailoring suitability and confirmation, extended adult sizing can use individual measurements with the standard Made-to-Order styling options at the equivalent Made-to-Order price. Full Made to Measure remains available where greater styling or proportion control is wanted.
