Two Routes to Your Suit
Made to Order or Made to Measure?
Both services create the suit after ordering and allow fabric and styling choices. The key difference is whether the garment begins with standard sizing or individual body measurements.
Made to Order
A strong choice where standard proportions work well and the priority is personal styling rather than fully individual measurements.
- Standard men’s, women’s or boys’ sizing where shown
- Slim, regular or relaxed fit
- Available jacket and trouser length choices
- Classic notch lapel styling
- Product-specific trouser, skirt and waistcoat options
Made to Measure
The more flexible route for distinctive proportions, asymmetry or customers who want wider control over the finished construction.
- Individual body measurements
- Greater control over jacket and sleeve proportion
- Notch or peak lapels where offered
- Selected pocket and button-placement controls
- Selected men’s waistcoat front and lapel options
The Complete Three-Piece Look
Consider the Jacket, Waistcoat and Trousers Together.
Each garment affects the balance of the others. Use the dedicated guides for more detailed information before choosing the complete suit.
Tweed Jackets
The jacket defines the shoulders, lapels, front style, sleeve length and overall silhouette across the men’s, women’s and boys’ ranges. Available construction varies between Made to Order and Made to Measure.

The waistcoat connects the upper and lower garments. Men’s Made to Measure may include selected lapelled or double-breasted options, while women’s styling is typically clean and non-lapelled.
Explore Tweed Waistcoats →Tweed Trousers
Waist, rise, seat, thigh, leg line and finished length determine how the lower half balances the jacket and waistcoat.

From Classic Herringbone to Bold Country Checks.
The fabric gives a tweed suit its first impression. Fine herringbones provide restrained texture, windowpanes introduce a clean grid, and overchecks or country checks create a more visible pattern across the complete three-piece outfit.
Pattern scale changes when cloth is cut across lapels, pockets, seams, waistcoats and trouser legs. A sample is useful for assessing colour and texture, while the full Fabric Guide helps show how each pattern family differs.
We aim to represent fabrics accurately, but screen settings, photography and surrounding light can alter how a colour appears. Minor shade or weave variation may also occur between fabric batches. Where colour is important, request a free physical sample before placing a custom order.

Fit and Proportion
The Suit Should Work as One Complete Silhouette.
Correct sizing is not only about whether each piece fastens. Jacket length, waistcoat coverage, trouser or skirt rise and sleeve and leg proportions must work together.
Men’s Sizing
Made to Order uses the body chest size the jacket is intended to fit, together with the selected waist and length options.
Women’s Sizing
Women’s tailoring considers bust, waist, hip, shoulder, sleeve and torso proportions rather than simply scaling down a men’s pattern.
Fit Choice
Slim, regular or relaxed fit changes the intended silhouette and room. It does not replace the need for the correct starting size or measurements.
Measurements
Unless a field specifically asks for a garment measurement, provide the actual body measurement without adding your own allowance.
Non-Standard Proportions
Tell us about athletic builds, asymmetry, petite or tall frames, fuller areas, mobility considerations or another factor likely to affect fit.
Fit Assurance
Optional Fit Assurance provides a separate fit-resolution service for qualifying orders where additional sizing protection is required.

Race Days
Rich colours, visible checks and structured three-piece styling suit the traditional but expressive character of race meetings.
Work and Events
Classic herringbones and restrained windowpanes add texture while remaining easy to coordinate with formal shirts, blouses and accessories.
Celebrations
A distinctive tweed suit works for parties, dinners, graduations and formal occasions where standard business tailoring feels too anonymous.

See and Feel the Cloth Before Choosing the Suit.
A physical swatch is the clearest way to assess colour, texture and pattern scale before placing a custom order. It is particularly useful for weddings, where the cloth may need to coordinate with flowers, invitations, bridesmaid colours, venue styling or a wider theme.
Include the exact fabric name or product link and your delivery address. Samples are subject to current cloth availability, and minor variation may occur between the sample and the fabric batch used for the finished garments.

Before Choosing Your Suit.
Answers about men’s and women’s tweed suits, Made to Order, Made to Measure, fabrics, sizing and coordinated three-piece tailoring.
What is a tweed suit?
A tweed suit uses a textured cloth or tweed-style fabric with visible character, often including herringbone, windowpane, overcheck, Glen check or country-check patterns. It may be worn as a two-piece or coordinated three-piece outfit depending on the selected product.
Do you make tweed suits for men, women and boys?
Yes. We offer adult Made to Order and Made to Measure tailoring for men and women, together with a dedicated boys’ tweed suit collection using age- and size-appropriate proportions. Explore boys’ tweed suits.
What is the difference between Made to Order and Made to Measure?
Made to Order begins with standard sizing and provides the fit, length and styling choices shown on the product. Made to Measure uses individual body measurements and offers wider control over proportion and selected construction details.
Can I order a three-piece tweed suit?
Yes. Many products are available as coordinated three-piece suits with a jacket, waistcoat and trousers or, for selected women’s products, a tailored skirt. The product page shows the pieces and choices included.
Can I buy boys’ tweed jackets, trousers or waistcoats separately?
Boys’ tweed jackets have a dedicated category. We do not currently offer boys’ tweed trousers or waistcoats as separate standalone categories; those pieces are available as part of selected boys’ suits. Explore boys’ tweed jackets.
Can I buy the jacket, waistcoat or trousers separately?
Individual garment availability varies by fabric, range and product. Men’s waistcoats have a dedicated category, while other separates may be available through selected products or by enquiry.
Which tweed suit fabric is the most versatile?
Classic navy, grey and brown herringbones are generally the easiest to coordinate across several occasions. Restrained windowpanes can also provide a versatile balance between plain tailoring and a stronger check.
Will the fabric look exactly the same as it does on my screen?
We aim to represent fabrics accurately, but screen settings, photography and surrounding light can affect appearance. Minor shade or weave variation may also occur between fabric batches. Request a free physical sample where the exact colour or texture is important.
Can I request a free fabric sample?
Yes. Contact us with the exact fabric name or product link and your delivery address. Samples are subject to current cloth availability.
How do I choose the right size?
Follow the relevant men’s or women’s measurement guide, repeat each measurement and contact us before ordering where standard sizing does not feel straightforward. Made to Measure may be more suitable for distinctive proportions.
Can you help with wedding-party suits?
Yes, subject to fabric availability. Each wearer should provide their own size or measurements. Contact us before ordering where several suits must coordinate or an event date is important.
How long will my tweed suit take?
Production and delivery times vary according to the order, destination and whether all required measurements and selections have been supplied. Review the current Delivery & Lead Times guidance before ordering for a wedding or fixed event.
What is Fit Assurance?
Fit Assurance is an optional fit-resolution service available with qualifying suit orders. Read the full Fit Assurance page before ordering where additional sizing protection is important.
