Website & Sales Terms
Terms & Conditions
These terms explain how orders placed through That British Tweed Company are accepted, produced, delivered and supported. Please read them together with the product details and the policies linked below before placing an order.
Custom Orders
Made to Order and Made to Measure garments are produced for the individual customer using the selected size, measurements and styling.
48-Hour Cancellation
Custom orders may normally be cancelled for a full refund within 48 hours, unless production has already begun at the customer’s explicit request.
Estimated 4–6 Weeks
The usual estimate includes production and delivery once the order is complete and ready to enter production.
Your Legal Rights
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits rights that cannot legally be excluded, including rights relating to faulty, damaged, incorrectly supplied or misdescribed goods. Where these terms and applicable consumer law differ, the law takes priority.
About Us & These Terms
These terms apply to use of thatbritishtweedcompany.co.uk and to orders placed directly with That British Tweed Company through the website, by an agreed payment link or by another written order method that refers to these terms.
In these terms, “we”, “us” and “our” mean That British Tweed Company. “You” and “your” mean the person placing the order. The person placing an order must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into the contract, or must have authority to order on behalf of the named customer.

Important: the postal address above is a correspondence address and cannot receive garment returns. Customers must contact us before returning anything. An authorised returns address is supplied privately where a return is required.
The product page, order summary, order confirmation and the following linked policies form part of the contract where relevant:
- Returns, Refunds & Cancellations;
- Delivery & Lead Times;
- Fit Assurance, where purchased; and
- Privacy Policy.
If a specific written order confirmation expressly differs from a general part of these terms, the specific written confirmation will apply to that point.
Using the Website
You may use the website for lawful personal or business purchasing, product research and communication with us. You must not misuse the website, attempt unauthorised access, introduce malicious code, interfere with its operation or use its content in a misleading or unlawful way.
We aim to keep the website accurate and available, but cannot promise uninterrupted access or that every page will always be free from technical errors. We may temporarily suspend, repair or change parts of the website where reasonably necessary.
Creating an account does not give ownership of any part of the website. Customers are responsible for keeping account credentials confidential and for notifying us promptly if they believe an account has been accessed without permission.
Links to external websites are provided for convenience. We are not responsible for external content, availability or privacy practices unless the linked service is acting on our behalf in fulfilling your order.
Orders & Contract Acceptance
Placing an order is an offer to purchase the selected goods. An automatic website email may acknowledge receipt, but does not by itself confirm that every fabric, option or specification is available.
We accept the order when we expressly confirm that it has been accepted for production or when we begin ordering or cutting fabric after reviewing payment, availability and the required order information, whichever happens first.
Before acceptance, we may contact you to clarify measurements, styling, quantities, delivery details or apparent errors. We may decline or cancel an order where, for example:
- payment is not authorised or is later reversed;
- the selected fabric or component is unavailable;
- essential measurements or specifications are missing;
- we cannot deliver to the requested destination;
- the order appears fraudulent or unlawful;
- a price or product description contains an obvious error; or
- we cannot reasonably fulfil the order.
If we cannot accept an order after payment has been taken, we will explain the position and refund the relevant amount paid to us.
Each suit may require its own measurements, styling and Fit Assurance selection. Items ordered together are normally treated as one order and dispatched together once complete, although individual suits may be boxed separately.
Products, Fabrics & Styling
Made to Order garments are produced after ordering using standard sizing selected by the customer, together with the available fit, length and styling choices shown on the relevant product page.
Made to Measure garments are produced using customer-supplied body measurements and offer additional control over fit and styling. They are not the same as an in-person bespoke service involving repeated physical fittings.
Customers must check the product description, fabric, colour, garment combination, lapel, fit, fastening, lengths, trouser or skirt choice and all other selected options before ordering.
Photographs and screen displays are intended to represent products as accurately as reasonably possible. However:
- screens can display colours differently;
- fabric shade and texture may vary slightly between production batches;
- woven cloth may contain minor natural or manufacturing variations;
- pattern placement will vary between individual cut pieces; and
- photography, lighting and scale can affect how a cloth appears.
These reasonable differences are not intended to permit a material departure from the confirmed product description. Customers who need to judge colour or texture closely should request an available fabric sample before ordering.
Where a selected cloth becomes unavailable before cutting, we will contact you to discuss a suitable alternative or a refund for the affected item. We will not knowingly replace it with a materially different fabric without agreement.
Measurements, Size to Fit & Customer Information
Customers are responsible for supplying complete and accurate measurements, sizes, photographs and fit information requested for the order. Measurements should be taken carefully, repeated for consistency and submitted using one measurement system throughout.
Unless a form specifically asks for a finished-garment measurement, measurements are body measurements or “size to fit” measurements. Customers must not add their own ease or overmeasure. We calculate the additional room required for movement and layering according to the selected pattern and fit.
A customer whose body chest measures 40 inches should enter or order the 40-inch size. The finished jacket will normally be larger than the body measurement to provide suitable ease.
We may review measurements for obvious inconsistencies and ask questions, but this check cannot identify every measuring error or unmentioned fit requirement. You must tell us about matters that may affect the garment, including:
- significant left-to-right asymmetry;
- strong, muscular or otherwise distinctive proportions;
- preferred higher or lower trouser position;
- mobility or dressing requirements;
- fluctuating measurements or swelling;
- postural differences; and
- any particular fit preference not shown by the measurements alone.
Current measuring instructions are available in our men’s measurement guide and women’s measurement guide.
Body changes occurring after measurements are submitted—including weight change, pregnancy, training-related changes or fluctuating swelling—are not production errors. Contact us before production if your measurements change.
Prices, Payment & Promotions
Prices are shown in the currency displayed on the website. The amount payable to us, including any tax we are required to collect and any separate delivery charge, will be shown before the order is submitted.
International import duties, customs charges, clearance fees and local taxes are not included unless the checkout expressly states otherwise. They are the customer’s responsibility.
Full payment is normally required when ordering unless a different written payment arrangement has been agreed. Production does not begin while required payment remains outstanding.
Card issuers, banks and payment providers may apply currency-conversion charges, foreign transaction fees or security checks. These are outside our control.
Discount codes and promotions:
- must be used within their stated period and conditions;
- cannot normally be exchanged for cash;
- may be restricted to particular products, customers or minimum spends;
- cannot be combined unless expressly stated; and
- may be withdrawn before an order is placed.
If the website contains an obvious pricing error that a reasonable customer should recognise as incorrect, we may contact the customer before fulfilment and offer the choice of paying the correct price or receiving a full refund.
Order Changes & Cancellation
Made to Order and Made to Measure orders may normally be cancelled for a full refund by notifying us in writing within 48 hours of placing the order.
The 48-hour window does not apply where the customer has explicitly asked us to begin fabric cutting or production sooner and we have acted on that request.
Specification changes requested within the first 48 hours are subject to availability and only take effect when confirmed by us in writing. A change may affect the price, measurements or estimated completion date.
After 48 hours, fabric may have been ordered, allocated or cut and production may have begun. Changes or cancellations are therefore not normally possible. Where a late change can still be accommodated, we may quote an additional charge and revised estimate.
Garments produced to customer measurements or selected specifications may be made to the customer’s specifications or clearly personalised. Ordinary change-of-mind cancellation rights may therefore not apply after the order is committed to production. Your rights where goods are faulty, incorrect or not as described remain unaffected.
Ready-made, non-personalised stock items are subject to the separate cancellation rules explained in our Returns, Refunds & Cancellations policy.
Production, Lead Times & Delivery
Most Made to Order and Made to Measure orders are estimated to arrive within 4–6 weeks, including delivery, once the order is ready to enter production.
The estimate begins on the later of:
- 48 hours after the order was placed; or
- the date on which we have received full payment and every measurement, styling choice and detail required to begin production.
The estimate is not a guaranteed deadline. Fabric-supplier delays, delivery disruption, customs processing, severe weather, natural disaster and other events outside reasonable control may extend the process.
For weddings, group orders and important events, customers should order at least eight weeks before the garments are required. We do not offer a public rapid or priority production service.
Suit orders are dispatched using a tracked and insured service. UK orders normally use a next-working-day service after production, although weekend restrictions, remote locations and bank holidays may extend delivery.
Full delivery terms—including address errors, missed delivery, tracking, packaging and remake timing—are set out in our Delivery & Lead Times policy.
International Orders
Orders are dispatched from the United Kingdom. International customers are responsible for checking whether the products can be imported into the destination and for identifying and paying all applicable:
- import duties and tariffs;
- customs and brokerage charges;
- local VAT, sales tax or similar taxes;
- clearance or handling fees; and
- storage, return or redelivery charges arising from non-payment or non-collection.
These destination-country charges are not included in the product price or delivery charge unless expressly stated at checkout.
Customs authorities may inspect, hold or delay a parcel. Their processing is outside our control. We do not accept responsibility for customs delays, except where the law requires otherwise or the problem results directly from our failure to provide documentation that we were responsible for supplying.
Refusing or failing to collect a Made to Order or Made to Measure parcel because destination charges are due does not create a right to cancel or receive a refund. The customer may remain responsible for charges, return costs, storage and any further delivery.
Returns, Sizing Issues & Faulty Goods
Customers must contact us before sending any garment. The public correspondence address is not a returns facility. Where a return is authorised, we will provide the appropriate private returns address and instructions.
For a customer sizing issue without Fit Assurance, we do not promise an alteration service or automatic free remake. Depending on the circumstances, we may offer an available replacement piece or a discounted remake at our discretion. Any such assistance is individually assessed, may require return of the original pieces and is not guaranteed.
Where goods are faulty, damaged, made to the wrong confirmed specification or not as described, we will deal with the matter according to the circumstances and the customer’s legal rights. The appropriate remedy may include replacement, remake, repair, price reduction or refund.
We may prefer to resolve a production error through a replacement or remake, but this does not remove any legal right to reject faulty goods or receive another remedy where the law provides it.
Approved custom-suit returns must normally be:
- unworn other than reasonable indoor fitting;
- unaltered and not worn to an event;
- returned on the original hanger;
- inside the original suit garment bag;
- securely boxed rather than sent in a mailing bag; and
- returned with included gifts, accessories and extras where requested.
The complete process, including ready-made stock-item returns and return-postage responsibilities, is explained in our Returns, Refunds & Cancellations policy.
Fit Assurance
Fit Assurance is an optional paid service that may be added separately to each Made to Order or Made to Measure suit. It is intended for customers who are uncertain about sizing or concerned about taking measurements.
Each Fit Assurance purchase is attached to one specific suit and provides one complete fit-resolution case. It is not limited to one garment: depending on the evidence and what can reasonably be resolved, it may cover one piece, several pieces or the entire covered suit.
To begin a claim, the customer must notify us in writing within 14 days of delivery, clearly explain the issue, provide requested fit photographs and tape-measure evidence, and repeat the relevant body measurements several times.
Every piece approved for remake must be returned. Where the complete suit is being remade, the complete original suit must be returned. Returned garments must be unworn at an event, unaltered, on their hangers, inside the suit garment bags and securely boxed in accordance with the return instructions.
Approved replacement pieces retain the original confirmed fabric and styling. They are newly produced and normally require the standard estimated 4–6 week period after returns, revised measurements and approvals are complete.
Where no Fit Assurance claim is made, the full fee paid becomes credit towards a qualifying future order, subject to the minimum spend, validity period and conditions shown when the service is purchased. The credit has no cash value.
A genuine manufacturing fault or incorrect supplied specification is handled separately and does not use the Fit Assurance case. Full conditions appear on the Fit Assurance page.
Our Responsibility to You
We are responsible for loss or damage that is a foreseeable result of our breach of these terms or failure to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable when the contract was formed.
We do not exclude or limit responsibility where it would be unlawful to do so, including responsibility for:
- death or personal injury caused by negligence;
- fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
- faulty goods, goods not as described or other non-excludable consumer rights; or
- any other matter that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
Where you buy as a consumer, we supply products for private use. We are not responsible for business losses such as lost profit, lost revenue, lost opportunity or business interruption.
We are not responsible for losses caused solely by inaccurate customer measurements, omitted fit information, body changes after measurement, an incorrect delivery address, failure to pay import charges or failure to leave the recommended time before an event.
Nothing in this section prevents a customer from relying on legal rights arising from our own breach or from an expressly agreed guaranteed date.
Where an event outside reasonable control delays or prevents performance, we will take reasonable steps to reduce the effect and communicate significant disruption. If fulfilment becomes impossible, we will discuss the available alternatives and any refund required by law.
Privacy, Website Content & Intellectual Property
We process customer information for enquiries, orders, measurements, delivery, financial records, website security and other purposes explained in our Privacy Policy.
Where a customer voluntarily provides information concerning disability, mobility, swelling, lymphoedema or another health-related fit requirement, we use it only as reasonably necessary to understand and fulfil the tailoring request, subject to applicable data-protection requirements.
The website design, written content, graphics, photographs, illustrations, branding and other materials are owned by us or used with permission. They may not be copied, republished, sold, scraped, commercially exploited or presented as another business’s work without written permission, except where the law permits.
Customers retain ownership of photographs and information they submit. By sending material for an enquiry, fit assessment or order, the customer permits us to use it internally to respond, assess measurements, produce garments, investigate issues and fulfil the contract.
We will not use customer fit photographs for public marketing without separate permission.
Complaints, Changes to These Terms & Governing Law
Questions or complaints should be sent through our Contact Us page or by email to info@thatbritishtweedcompany.co.uk. Please include the order number and a clear explanation of the issue.
We may update these terms to reflect changes to the website, products, business practices or law. The terms applying to an order are normally those made available when the order was placed, unless a later change is required by law or agreed with the customer.
If any part of these terms is found unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining terms continue to apply.
A delay in enforcing a term does not mean that we have permanently waived it. No person other than the customer and us has a right to enforce the contract, except where the law says otherwise.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Customers living in Scotland or Northern Ireland retain any mandatory protections and rights to bring proceedings in their local courts. International customers also retain mandatory consumer protections that apply in their country and cannot legally be excluded.
