The Small Print – Returns, Refunds, T&Cs, Privacy, etc

One of the best things about shopping through us is that you know you will always be checking out and completing your purchases through Amazon (unless you are buying one of our made to order/measure in which case see lower down the page). This means you get all the benefits of shopping with Amazon in terms of ease of payment and security, ease of delivery and access to the returns support centre. With many items of clothing you won’t even have to pay to return them if anything isn’t right, simply print off the return postage labels through Amazon and pop it in the post.  This doesn’t apply to all items so check first. Whilst we love Amazon, we are in no way affiliated or endorse by them, we are an Amazon associate however and may earn on qualifying purchases (legal stuff).

Returns Policy

Clearly we hope you never have to return a thing, however occasionally we know you may want to return items and by law you have the right to cancel the purchase of most items within 14 days without giving any reason. You also have statutory rights where goods are not as described, not fit for purpose or not of satisfactory quality. Please note that made to order / made to measure products do not fall under standard distance selling regulations.

Statutory Cancellation Right

You have the statutory right to cancel your order for any reason within 14 days beginning with the day you receive the item (again, not including Made to Measure/Order items – see below). To exercise your cancellation right please visit the Amazon Returns Support Centre where you can see your previous order history.

Our Voluntary Returns Policy

As well as your statutory 14 day cancellation rights described above, you can actually return most products within 30 days of receipt of the products, as long as the products are complete and are in an unused and undamaged condition. To return an item you purchased through Amazon checkout please visit the Returns Support Centre.

Please note that this returns policy doesn’t affect your statutory rights and therefore doesn’t affect your right of cancellation as described above.

The following table provides an overview of the key provisions of your statutory cancellation right as well as Amazons voluntary returns policy and how they compare to one another:

Returns Costs & Methods

Amazon will refund the cost of sending an item back if it’s defective, damaged or incorrect and in many cases, we’ll provide you with a pre-paid returns label. If your return is not clothing, shoes or accessories, for example if you purchased an armchair, and not the result of an error on Our / Amazons part, and you’re using a pre-paid return label, Amazon will deduct the cost of the return from your refund. For returns from within the UK, costs start at £3.99. International return costs start at £8.09. Please note that returns that contain multiple items, or large items, may cost more. Amazon offer various returns methods which will differ depending on the item(s) you’re returning. Amazon always display the most accurate return costs and methods available for your item(s) in their Returns Support Centre when you create your label.

Please note that certain types of items aren’t eligible for cancellation or return under the Amazon returns policy. You can find out more in the Conditions of Use & Sale. Amazon reserve the right to refuse returns or to charge you our fees and expenses if the product isn’t received in new, unopened condition.

If a product becomes defective after 30 days you won’t be able to create a returns label using the Returns Support Centre

Whilst we at TBTC are an Amazon associate and earn from qualifying purchases, we are in no other way affiliated with or endorsed by them, hence we cannot affect pricing, track/refund orders , etc of amazon listed products, only British Tweed Co branded products.

Other Statutory Rights

You have additional rights in relation to incorrect, damaged or defective goods. For more information about these statutory rights, please visit Adviceguide, a Citizens Advice website at: http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/. This link is provided to help our customers find out their consumer rights. We want every customer to be happy and will always do our best to help.

Return of Made to Measure & Made to Order Items,

Made to order products are subject to slightly different selling regulations than normal distance selling products.  Because these products are custom made for you for you on request we issue refunds when the product is damaged, faulty, etc but cannot refund for problems such as you don’t like the colour / fabric, or sizing issues if you submitted the wrong measurements.  We try to mitigate these issues by offering free fabric samples anywhere in the world for all of our “Made to Order” and “Mad to Measure” products, just get in touch if you want a sample.  Of course we will without a doubt refund any item of ours which is faulty or damaged upon receipt, not fit for purpose, etc.  If you need to request a refund for simply get in touch through our contact page. Please remember to measure yourself using our guide here, even if you are ordering standard sizing, consult the guide and double check your chest and waist measurement.  This is the single easiest way to avoid any problems. Whilst we wont refund for some sizing issues we of course we want you to be happy. We will always try to offer free replacements and remakes where possible, however depending on the nature of the sizing issue, you may have to pay for postage or even remakes. For example the worst case scenario would be if you submitted incorrect Made to Measure measurements that were too to small to let out the seams (hence could not be altered) but didn’t realise until you received the suit, and we didn’t have any like for like in stock, we would have to remake the items to the correct measurements.  In this case we would try to offer any remakes at a huge discount, often losing money ourselves by doing so, but we would rather lose a little and leave you happy. Of course each case is unique, if its a larger order we may be able to do more, but thankfully these problems are rare. If the sizing issue is our fault we will of course replace items for free and treat the remakes as a priority order.  As much as we try we aren’t psychic, so please remember to tell us if you have any requirements whatsoever.  If you do need to return any British Tweed Co product that did not check out through Amazon, please remember to get in touch first so we can resolve any problems, however if you do need to return items our returns address is:   British Tweed Co Returns, Suite 58, 33 Great George St, Leeds, LS1 3AJ, United Kingdom.

Delivery Times for Made to Order, Made to Measure, and Bespoke ranges.

Delivery times for all items in the made to order, made to measure and bespoke ranges is an average of 25 working days.  We do not guarantee delivery times, because there are just too many factors outside of our control, issues with couriers, delays in fabric suppliers, acts of god, etc, are things we can do nothing about.  For this reason if you desperately need a suit for a specific date in 2 or 3 weeks, we recommend buying one of the pre-made suits available through amazon checkout which would be shipped almost instantly and would be eligible for no question asked 30 day refund policy.  For three piece suits we do offer a priority service which typically takes around 14 working days, however this is also still not guaranteed.  All we mean by the system is that we prioritise your order above other similar non-priority orders.  This does not mean we make it straight away, as we still have to order fabric, etc. We will prioritise your order throughout every step of the process, and hence it does typically take 7-10 working days less than a non priority order, however given we can still have delays with couriers and fabric supplies, etc, so it could still take 25 days, but will always be quicker than if it were a standard order.

Other British Tweed Co items that did not check out through Amazon

As the business has changed and grown over time we have added other products to the site, which checkout through our own payment system instead of Amazon, but are not made to order items.  For example if we have limited numbers of a product, or we are just testing the sales of a product, we may just run a small number through our own checkout system.  With purchases of these products we will always match Amazons generous voluntary returns policy for all such items, with a no questions asked 30 day return policy.

Your Data, Our Policy

In order to give people an efficient experience when using the internet sometimes data about you is kept. This sounds bad but in reality most of it is harmless.  For example in order to add products to a cart, and want them stay there when you move between pages, the website needs to create a record of this somewhere, thus “your data” is born.  Examples are contact forms, comments, cookies, analytics, and third-party embeds such as Google Captcha which ensures you’re not a bot/hacker.  Of course some uses are much less essential and indeed potentialy harmful, for example if a company sold your email address to a second marketing agency (which of course we will never ever do).  If you purchase a product through ThatBritishTweedCompany.co.uk the website will collect information such as such as name, email address, personal account preferences; transaction data, such as purchase information; and technical data, such as information about cookies, which we will keep in accordance with the data protection act.  If you don’t purchase anything but submit a contact request, add a product to cart, etc then some limited data will still be collected, for example your form submission will be in our inbox.  Again these are primarily used to reply to your enquiry, or use the functionality of the site.  When you anything above that would cause non-anonymised data to be collected we will always prompt you with a GDPR opt-in.  In addition to this generally essential use of data to run the site we do also do some limited marketing on social media and email based on certain usages of the site, for example if you add a product to cart but end up paying for it, you may get a email reminding you.  Of course for this to be the case you would have had to have opted in otherwise we wouldn’t have your email.
